Spring Cleaning? Five Tips On How To Spring Clean Your Closet

Spring is here, which means it is time to spring clean your wardrobe! After a long winter, you have undoubtedly gathered piles of sweats and oversized jackets in your closet. But now that the weather is getting warmer, the birds are chirping, and flowers are blooming, it is time we do something about that messy wardrobe. So without further ado, here are 5 steps to spring clean your wardrobe!

Take Everything Out of The Closet

The first step to deep cleaning your wardrobe is to remove everything out of your closet. This includes your shoes, favorite clothing items, and clothes that you haven’t seen since the last time you did a spring cleaning. Bringing everything out of your closet will make it easier for you to see exactly what you have, need, and want to get rid of. You can also get a sense of the space you have in the closet and reevaluate how you would want everything organized.

Decide What to Keep, Donate, and Throw
Away

Once all of your clothing is out of the closet, it is time to decide what to keep, donate, and throw away. Organize your clothing based on these three categories and place them into piles. Then once you have narrowed down what you want to keep, you can decide where to put them in your closet. Any clothes that are still in acceptable condition but don’t see yourself wearing should be donated. Be honest with yourself when clearing out your closet. Don’t keep clothes just for the sake of saving it.

Get All of Your Clothing Related Chores Done

If you have clothes that need to go to the dry cleaners, or if you need to get a dress tailored, now is the time to do it. When you procrastinate on chores such as these, it is more challenging to keep your closet clean. You will have that one random pair of dress pants laying out because you can’t put it away until it gets dry cleaned. By being on top of your chores and getting your items ready for the spring season, you can feel good about having your wardrobe fully organized!

Decide How You Want to Organize Your Closet

Now you can finally re-organize your closet! This is the most satisfying part of the process since you will see all your hard work come together. Now you can decide where to put things and which clothing items should be hung, in dressers, or folded. Since you have a better sense of how many of each category of clothing you have, it will be easier to know where you should store your clothes. For example, if you have 15 hoodies, you may not want to fold them and try to squeeze them all into a small shelf. Use your common sense and remember you can always change the location of your clothes later if you decide you do not like where it is.

Show Off Your New Spring Wardrobe!

Now that your new spring wardrobe is freshly organized, it is time to show off your Spring style! So put on your favorite outfit and enjoy a nice picnic in the park. The best part about all of this spring cleaning is that you can finally relax at the thought of your perfectly organized closet.

xoxo,

Linds
